TRIP TO THE COAST

Hi there,

The boys and me flew down to East London to spend the Long Weekend with Neville. As Friday was HERITAGE day (AKA National Braai Day).. we hijacked the braai area at the guest house and celebrated on our own.

Neville doing the thing he loves most in the world... (his other name is GROENIE die DRAAK... LOL)
Although the weather was too windy and it was a bit chills, by Sunday we were finally able to go down to the beach and play a bit with the boys...

Neville decided to keep the boys with him for 4 days and to fly back with them on Friday morning.. (check the excitement... ) LOL !

Brenton is always asking to take photos with my camera, so I let him have a go.. he actually took some really cute photos !

The East London beach (Nahoon Beach) is in a cove with huge Dunes... this is my favorite photo of the weekend.. Klaven was walking away in the background and Brent was looking for him.. love how it came out !

Klaven, my funny bunny.. I think by Sunday afternoon he had had enough of me taking photos ! LOL !
I flew back on Sunday to a very quiet house.. The boys at least are having fun on the beach each day. They have signed up for the LIFESAVERS CLUB holiday program and are learning to surf, sandboard, fish and abseil.

Hi there,

Ok I quickly had to do 2 more challenges for SCRAP U today before I left for the coast.
First one was an AFTER SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT: PHOTOGRAPHY. We had to use set words and take photos to match. I chose the words DETERMINATION, EXCITEMENT AND JOY... these photos of my niece just summed it up.. she was waiting so patiently for a piece of cake.. determined to be the first one there, her excitement when she got it and the pure joy of eating cake.
We then had to make a layout using 1 of the photos.. I done a quick digi page and decided to use all 3 photos as they told a story (hence my story board.. LOL)

The second one was my LITERATURE assignment.. you guessed it.. we had to journal (LOTS).. LOL..

This layout was totally inspired by a similar one from Wilna Furstenburg.. I just love her style of layouts and it seemed perfect for this.

Journaling is all about the things I have learnt in life... Used the Bo Bunny Mammarazi papers and the new Tim Holtz papers and elements too for this layout.

Close ups... OK, I don't have the best handwriting, but at least I have tried.. LOL (close up journalling on LETS SCRAP)

Close ups of the elements.. made a lollypop flower too...

Well that is enough scrapping for one week me thinks.. off to bed now.. have to be up at 3am to get my lift at 3h45 to the airport .... yawn... so early !!!
Have a good weekend !
Hugs, Mich

I MADE THE COVER !!

I am so excited.. just found out that I have been given the cover of the new Scrap Affairs magazine... it is the October edition...

Wow.. this is such an honor.. I can just pop !

SCRAPPING UPDATE

Hi there,

Wow, I have been having so much fun over at http://www.scrap-friendzy.com where I am attending the SCRAP U this month.

As you know by now, we have to do daily and weekly assignments. I have learnt so much already. It really challenges you to use old photos and to try out stuff you have never used or done before. I still have a few assignments to complete where lots of paint and stuff is involved..

Here are all the badges I have earned so far... I am very proud of myself ! LOL

This was our HISTORY assignment. We had to use newspaper, mix modge with paint and paint it. Once dry we were to create an element (I made flowers) and a photo mat on our page. If we had interesting newspaper articles we could add them to the page. I didn't, so I just used the paper for decor purposes:

You can check out how to make your own Newspaper here: http://www.scrap-friendzy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=4680
Close up view of my flowers.. am going to do this again, love this technique.
Another assignment was our FOREIGN LANGUAGE assignment. This was for Extra Credit. I used photos from KENYA on our honeymoon. We had to use foreign photos and a foreign language. JAMBO means HELLO in Swahili.

For our HOME ECONOMICS assignment, we had to use material to create a flower and use as an element somewhere on your page. I created a small black flower on this layout and used the remainder of my material for a border.

Close up view of the layout: (thank you Betty Anne for the lovely bling you sent me !)

Other challenges that I am taking part in are:
They are having a SKETCHATHON for the month too..

Here is the card challenge they had. We had to use this sketch and create a layout either in Fall / School theme. This is a back to school card I made...(using leftovers from my October Afternoon papers).

The following double layout killed 2 birds with 1 stone:
SCRAP U assignment for Extra Credit: To get on the DEANS LIST, we had to create a layout using 10 or more photos, about summer and make a list. This is my layout using the new October Afternoon (Fly a Kite range) paper and element sheets:

I doubled up on this layout by using this sketch at SKETCHINSPIRATION - http://sketchinspiration.ning.com/ created by Jana Eubank. (check it out, you can win prizes too).

Used this sketch for my left side of my layout:

For the right side of my layout, I used the LETS SCRAP sketch RIGHT HAND side of this one:

My right hand side:

I love this October Afternoon paper range.. so cute and easy to use...

WEDDING CARDS:
Had to make 3 wedding cards last night too for a friend at work.. I created the cards, inside and a small element to add to the front of the envelope:

Phew, OK now I am exhausted from scrapping.. think I have done my share this week hey?
Yes, this was all done this week ! LOL..
Have a good long weekend and haul out that BRAAI and enjoy NATIONAL BRAAI DAY and HERITAGE DAY !
