Lets Scrap 3-27-13 : Favourite

This weeks sketch at Lets Scrap was designed by Judy Rakes.

I created my layout as part of a scraplift of a design used at a local retreat (original design by Leah Fung - not sure who designed the second layout, but thank you..I love it !.).

I just loved the page and it worked so well with the sketch that I thought I could finally combine the two together and get it done.

These are all photos of our 16 months in Australia, the friends we made and the good times we had. I really miss my buddies..

Products used:

  • Lillybee Designs: Buttercup Rain
  • Papers and sticker sheet
  • Leane Creatif Flower dies (my latest purchase.. love these flowers).
  • RM Design swirls
  • 7 Gypsey stickers

3-20-13 - Sew Special Card / Easel Card Tutorial

Hi there.

This is the sketch this week over at Lets Scrap:

As I just finished a layout using Scrap Collections range of papers, I decided to do the card in the same vein.

Here is my card.. I created an Easel Card.. Love the end result.

HOW TO MAKE AN EASEL CARD:

Cut cardstock to 15cm x 30cm
Score at 10, 15 and 20cm
Apply glue to the second section and adhere it flat to back of the cover of your card. (refer diagram).

DÉCOR:
Decorate card as you wish.
NB:  When creating your card, make sure your Sentiment inside the card is raised so that you can “hook” your card front onto it.
Always attach your “how to fold” to back of card so that the “receiver” knows how to use the card.

LAYOUT SHARE: Cutie Pie

I recently purchased this kit from Scrapbook 'n Things  (kit designed by Sharon Coetzer).  I just loved the colors and I had these really cute photos of my new niece Deryn that were taken on Christmas day.. I think the layout came out super cute.

Here are some closeups of the elements used.  I printed the title off my computer and cut it out.

I added an extra frame around my main photo and journalled all the way around it.

Thanks for looking.. Hugs, Mich

HOBBY X - Clive Frost Class

I recently visited Hobby X at the Coca Cola Dome in Randburg.  It is always such a fun event and you get to see so many new and exciting crafts that are happening at the moment and also it is great to have a few Scrapbooking Shops all under one roof...

I also was lucky enough to get to attend a class with Clive Frost..

This is the original layout done by Clive  that we had to do.. the class involved learning how to do alcohol inking.

We didn't get to do the layout at all, but only the alcohol inking on the metal disks we created.

When I got home, I made my layout into a double as I really don't like doing single pages.. There was enough goodies in the kit (with the exception of some extra cardstock) to do another whole page

This is my layout:

These photos were taken at Port Fairy in Melbourne last December.  It is an old historic harbour town and these photos just worked perfectly with the whole nautical theme that Clive had going.

Closeups of layout and the booklet on the left page.

Thanks for looking.

Lets Scrap - Challenge 157: LUCKY

There is a really fun challenge at Lets Scrap being hosted by Tiffany,  this week.. (check details HERE)

Here's what you have to do:

1)Create a layout using a Let's Scrap Card sketch. (Extra entry if you make a card from the same sketch)
2) Use at least 1 shade of green.
3) The word Luck must be used in your title and sentiment.
4) Add some sparkle! You can use glitter, rhinestones or anything that shines!
5) Include at least 1 piece of ribbon.

I just knew that I had to play with this challenge.. I had the cutest idea and quote, so I created this layout using the following card sketch:

My layout used mostly Kaisercraft papers, but a mix of others as well to finish off the rainbow.

Closeups of the elements I added:

Part of this challenge was to create a card as well using the same sketch.. so I created this cute GOOD LUCK card (for a housewarming)..

On adding my "sparkle" element of glitter, my stupid bottle exploded and I ended up with a huge heap of sparkle on the card.. LOL.. luckily it was wet so I could wipe most of it up:

I also decorated the inside of my card:
