Playing with Hexagons

I just love the new trend of Hexagons and decided I had to do a quick page (before I started ironing.. LOL).. here is my first attempt.. (I used an April Pagemaps Sketch).

Layout was created with OH BOY papers from Scrap Collections .. Love their papers..  I used photos of Brenton when he grabbed his dad glasses and decided to play silly buggers with them.  Was so cute..

Close ups of papers and die-cuts from the Range...

Here is a fun Hexagon Template for you to use if you decide to make your own layout, just size accordingly.

Let's Scrap Sketch- 4-25-12 : OH BUNNY

Another amazing sketch just loaded at Let's Scrap.  Some great prizes to be won.  Hop on over and check it out.. you have a week to enter!

Here is this weeks sketch by Cheri O'Neill.

This year, Good Friday was spent with some of our new friends that we made in Australia. We were invited to a Picnic at Cardinia Reservoir.  It was a lovely outing, albeit the weather was horrid and windy.  The kids had fun playing cricket and soccer together while the adults all sat under the trees and threw acorns at each other.. hee hee..   My eldest son is a real character and grabbed one of the young girls "bunny ears"... he is my very own little "funny bunny".. LOL

I created my layout from some really ancient papers I had in my stash (not even sure of ranges)...  The bunny I found online a while back and I just freehand drew him and paper pieced him together.  Love how he came out..

I used Thickers for the title.

Close up of left and right page...

I used some Imaginice Circus tags around the flower.

Just loved this bunny.. he looks so tired.. LOL

Thanks for looking,

Lets Scrap: {INTER}NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING MONTH

The 1st Saturday in May is National Scrapbooking Day.  At Let’s Scrap we don’t like to do anything small so instead of just celebrating on the one day we like to do it for the whole month of May.
Let’s Scrap has members from all over the world and with us holding the celebration for a month we thought it was only fitting that we change the name to (Inter)National Scrapbooking Month to better reflect our group.
During the month we will have lots of challenges and games for everyone to take part in and of course you will have a chance to win prizes (RAK’s).  As Ning charges us for the use of the site we also have a fundraiser to raise money to help with these fees.

It’s sure to be a fun filled month and I look forward to seeing you all there !!

Lets Scrap Sketch: 4-18-12

It is once the 3rd week of the month and time for a card sketch. This is the fun sketch that Debby designed for us to use.

I hauled out some old Kaiser papers and this is my card I created.

I used my Tim Holtz birdcage die for this as well.

Let's Scrap Sketch: 4-11-12

When I saw this weeks sketch over at Let's Scrap, I just had to have a go at it.  I had the perfect photos and found this awesome range of papers (MME all boy range).
I printed the Title (Logo) and then hand cut it from Cardstock (my Silhoutte not working .. grr)..
I am very happy with the end result.

Here is this weeks sketch.  Remember you have an entire week to create a layout based on this sketch.  Load your page and stand a chance to win an awesome prize.

This is my interpretation of the sketch:
Photos are of my son Klaven (In Black shirt) and his best friend in Australia.  They often go and skate at THE SHED.  It is a huge indoor skate park just down the road from us.  They love it there.  I managed to get a few photos one day when I went to fetch them.

Let's Scrap Sketch 4-4-12 Summer Fun

I am so excited to be chosen for the new Design Team for Let's Scrap for the next 4 months.

This is the sketch we received to apply for the Design Team.
It is the current Sketch at Let's Scrap and you have until April 10th midnight to load it.

I created my layout using the full range of Bo Bunny papers.  These photos are of Frankston Beach when we just arrived in Australia and went to the beach for a day of fun before the kids started school.

Lets Scrap DT challenge 133: Journalling

Eniko has posted her challenge at Let's Scrap for the next 2 weeks.

In this challenge she requires the following:

For this challenge, I want you to focus on storytelling. Choose your photos for your layout wisely, and as you make decisions about what to place on your pages, keep in mind the 5 W's...Who, What, Where, When, and Why...of the story. Each element that you add to your layout should contribute to the telling of the story. So here are the rules:
1.) WHO -Somewhere in your journaling, identify who the people in your photos are. (Future generations will want to know.)
2.) WHAT -Choose a Title that answers the "what" of your story ("What is this Layout about?") -in a minimum of words.  -It doesn't have to be literal, it can be whimsical, or even the title of a song, but it should give the viewer a snapshot of what you intend the focus of your layout to be, or at least pique the viewer’s interest.
3.) WHERE & WHEN -Record where and when the event, moment, outing or memory occurred.
4.) WHY -Most importantly, in your journaling, answer the question "why?"...this is crucial to story- telling. Your journaling should reveal why you selected this particular story to tell. Why is this story important to you? -It gives the viewer an insight into who you are and what you care about.
BONUS!!!! Flowers are such a gloriously beautiful part of our lives that they deserve to be celebrated! If the theme of your layout has to do with flowers in any way, you will get your name in the draw a second time.

So, of course I had to take part in the challenge.. however, I didn't do a flower layout, but did get a lot of journalling in on my layout..:

As usual, we have to use a LS sketch, so I used a sketch from 7 March 2012 for my layout.  I had too many photos so also made an extra flap on left page to include more pictures..
I also hand journalled on my layout.
The journalling is all about our fantastic trip to the Healesville Sanctually in Melbourne.  It is a Sanctuary for a wide variety of Australian Wildlife. We got our very first glimpse of kangaroo's, koala's, tasmanian devils, dingo's, wallabies and even a few platapus.  Was so much fun !

Let's Scrap Sketch: 3-28-12

I finally managed to get this weeks Sketch done at Let's Scrap.. has been a very busy week since I have been back in Oz...

Here is the sketch for the week:

and here is my version using a wide range of papers..

The Rodeo came to town. What a fun and exciting event.  I have always wanted to go to a Rodeo.  I finally had the chance !  When we got there, they had this cute mechanical bull for everyone to try out.  Brenton just had to have a go.  He held on tight for quiet a while, but didn’t quite reach cowboy status, no matter how hard he tried to hold on..
The bull was quite relentless and dipped and ducked and although Brenton did manage a few minutes, eventually it was too much for him and he went flying off.
Better luck next time my boy!
