CATCHING UP ON SKETCHES

As you all know, I am on a quest to scrap all my OLD photos finished. For this reason, I am addicted to the LETS SCRAP site.. I really love the sketches that they post weekly and the challenges.. and am trying to do at least one (or more) a week to get through my HUGE pile of old photos.
AUGUST COSMO CRICKET CHALLENGE

The challenge for August is a COSMO CRICKET challenge where you can win awesome paper packs of Cosmo Cricket stock. (check out their link: http://letsscrap.ning.com/ under design team challenges)
You need to create a layout using a Lets Scrap sketch and Cosmo Cricket paper.. I found these photos of Klaven wehn he was about 4 or 5.. he had a CULTURAL day at the Nursery School and wanted to go as an American Cowboy. I found this leather in my stash and sewed him a waistcoat and chats until midnight ! LOL.. thank goodness for Woolies, I was able to send him with mini "hamburgers.." what else do cowboys eat after all.. LOL
I used the right half of this sketch for my challenge..
Close ups of some of the details:
Used a "zigzag" stamp for fake stitching.
Am really liking strip journalling at the moment...
THIS WEEKS SKETCH CHALLENGE:
This weeks sketch at Lets Scrap is so cute.. love this arrow...

Found photos of Klaven's 4th birthday. We went to a local Plant Nursery where they had a Farmyard and specialised in FarmYard parties.. they brought out the aminals for the kids to touch, they got to feed them, etc.. was so fun !
The quality of the photos is very bad.. but at least I have the memories and I finally got to scrap them ! YAY me ! LOL

Again, used lots of old papers and scraps for this challenge.. nice to use up old stash.

Closeups of some of the elements used. Found an old card he received on this particular birthday and cut it up to use on the page...

Neville home this weekend, so that is my scrapping for the week. Need to spend my time with my husband and kids I think.

Hope you girls have lots of fun scrapping.. and looking forward to meeting some of you next weekend at our SURVIVOR RETREAT... it is a week away ! WOWZA... time sure flies..

NEW LAYOUTS DONE

With the soccer over, I find I have LOTS more time to scrap these days... Hee hee..

I was lucky enough to attend a class on Saturday with Michele at The Village Scrapper.. we created the most gorgeous layout called "Bracketed"...

Sneak Peek:

This class will be on my Schedule next month... watch this space..

Also managed to finish my "TRAVEL" inspired layout this weekend past... it came out really cool. Make lots of little envelopes, tags and a booklet for extra photos.. I even used the airplane boarding passes and some balsa wood on my page !

Close up view of the page... am teaching this on Saturday afternoon.

LETS SCRAP SKETCH CHALLENGE:
I am still on my "scrap the old photos / papers before the new" binge at the moment. I just love the "LETS SCRAP" website as they really challenge you each week with sketches and "challenges". This past weeks sketch by Cheri o' Neill was a fun one:

This is my take on the Sketch.. I only used SCRAPS of paper (not a single sheet of full paper was harmed in the making of this layout ) LOL.... and in line with my "scrap the Old" policy, I dug out these ancient photos of the "Scrapbooking for Hope 2005" function.
We scrapped with Amy Totty and Kelly Collins.. was a stunning day of fun. These were the only photos I had of the event so they actually worked very well with the sketch.

I even managed to incorporate their "Autographs" onto my layout. (check how long my hair was back then.. wow... )

CLOSE UPS:
I added a bit of paper pleating to my layout and some stamping... I have a serious phobia of white space...

Off to see what the new sketch is for next week..
Till then,
Happy Scrapping ....

LASTEST PAGE

Hi There,

I have made a decision to scrap all my "old" photos by means of doing every sketch challenge on the "LETS SCRAP" website. Every week they post a new sketch and they are really nice ones. This way I get to use my old photos, old papers and scraps. And I am getting layouts done in the process. Otherwise I never get my "older" photos scrapped.. I have a big box of them and they are just lying there.

I will keep all my "new" photos for my class layouts that I need to teach.
Here is this weeks sketch @ http://letsscrap.ning.com/
My layout was done with "OLD" photos from when I used to work at Boehringer Ingelheim. The Social Club had a Beer Festival with a mechanical bull, beer downing competition.. the works !! I just loved the banners on this sketch... They came out super cute.

Close up of the pages:

Up close view of the banner idea.. isn't it sweet ! Need to use this on another layout again. Nice for boy pages I think... or party pages.

Now to find this weeks sketch to get excited about.. LOL
Hugs,
Mich

CK SUMMER CAMP 2010

CARD MAKING

As most of you know, I am not a big Card Maker... I really prefer big double layouts and not faffing with small bits of paper. However, every now and then I get asked to make cards for people at work and am happy to oblige.

Done this 21st card last night at 10h00... (almost forgot about it..) LOL.. for a young girl turning 21...

Got to love my Siloutte machine for all the die cutting ! Makes life so much easier !

Inside of the card for them to write their message...

Every card needs an envelope.. so had to decorate that too...

Here's hoping that the Birthday Girl likes it...
Have a good week ! Neville on his way home now for the weekend.. Woo Hoo.. cannot wait !
Hugs, Mich

JET SETTERS

What a fun weekend... the boys and I went to go visit Neville in East London for the weekend. They got to experience their first flight too. Were so excited.

We got up at 3 in the morning and were fetched at 4am ... we just made it to the airport in time.. man, that place is HUGE !! Luckily got on the plane with a minute to spare. The kids really enjoyed the flight experience.

When we landed Neville fetched us and took us for a walk on his favorite beach at Nahoon. Wow... there are shells all over the beach. It was so quiet and the sand felt like powder. Absolutely gorgeous ! You walk further along the beach and then it becomes crushed shells and then big black rocks. They have these stunning walkways in the cliffs so you can walk from one beach to the other. We walked about 3 Km's every day along the beach. Loved it ! Best way to excercise for sure !

Picked up so many shells, brought back about 2 Kg's more of luggage.. LOL! The shells just lie on the beach and inbetween the rocks.. not baby shells either, but lovely big ones that you never see on the beach. I was so excited.. Spent most of my time picking up shells. (wonder where I got my nickname Shelly !).. LOL

Neville showed us all the sights and we visited a few "local" spots. I must say I am very impressed with East London.. would move there tomorrow if we needed to.

On the scrapping front... it is almost time for our .....

Less than a month to go. Mitch and me are hectically busy putting together Notes, Kits and all the lovely prizes / gifts for the girls. You always think you have so much time to arrange these things and then you blink and it is upon you.

We are a group of 39 going just outside Bela Bela, to Outcrop, Outbling and Outscrap each other.. The ladies are all so excited. We have lots in store for them, I think that Mitch and I will need another weeks leave (or a trip to the Coast again) to recover ! LOL!

Here are some sneak peeks of some of the projects that they will be doing.

NOTE: Full kits for the weekend (3 doubles and 2 singles) are available for purchase at R850-00 each. If you want a Full Kit, please let me know on sa_homespun@mweb.co.za or 082 874 1806. We have packed a few extra ones for sale.

Also very excited to be going to the annual Scrapbooking Expo at Emperors. It is fully booked this year (sure it is because my good friend Candice is teaching !!). Cannot wait ! Will be lovely to sit back and enjoy having someone else tell me what to do for a change. That doesn't happen too often.

Im hoping to do some challenges this week and to get scrapping on my Travel Page .. need to get some photos printed of the boys Airplane trip!

{off to scrap now... have a good week ... Hugs, Mich }
