Let's Scrap Sketch: 6-8-11

During our visit to Melbourne in May, we visited the Melbourne Aquarium in the heart of the city. It is so beautiful and they have the only Arctic Penguins in the whole of Australia. such funny little guys.. i loved watching them play and swim. They have a huge tank for them with real snow and a splash pool.. so cute.

They also had this huge Sharks Jaw that they caught somewhere off the coast of Australia.. ouch.. look how huge.. Jaws has nothing on this guy !

I used sketch 6-8-11 by Cheri O' Neil from Let's Scrap.. Loved how it takes so many photos. You can also open the left and right and make them into flaps for more photos..

Close up of Left Page:

I kept my brochure from the trip and used that for my title instead.. it says it all I guess !

Close up of right page:

I made a flap on the right page as I had too many photos (actually had to still throw some away.. had too many printed).

Layout with the flap open:

Closeups of the layout:

The Aquarium has this huge glass tunnel that you walk through.. it is amazing.. you can see the sharks and stingrays all around you.

Thank you for looking !

Lets Scrap Sketch : 6-29-11

I found another great sketch from LET's SCRAP to use again. I didn't have enough photos for the whole layout, so only used the left hand side.

This range of papers are just perfect for these photos.. Neville never just goes direct to a place, we always have to do a detour.. on this day, we were on our way to the Eureka Tower and had to stop at this Beer Cafe first to try out the local delights.. was yummy..

Close ups of the layout:

I used staples as an accent on the page.

I kept a beer coaster from the Cafe...Love using real stuff on my pages.. makes it more special.

Thanks for looking !

Lets Scrap Sketch: 6-22-11

I am trying to catch up with my scrapping, seeing as I have had a 3 month break. I had a ton of photos printed, and I thought it a good idea to catch up with my LETS SCRAP sketch challenges.

Never to late to scrap I say..

Here is the sketch from 22 June 2011. I just loved the little bee and immediately thought of a jumbo jet.. so this sketch was perfect for my first layout of our 1st trip to Melbourne, Australia to check it out.

These photos were taken at the airport before we boarded the plane (with the exception of the flags.. that was taken in Melbourne City)

Close up of left side. I used a jumbo jet chipboard embellishment and covered it. I used the Liberty range of papers by Bo Bunny.. They are meant for USA pages, but the colors are the same as the Australian flag..

I dug up all my tags, tickets and stubs from the flight and added them to the bottom of the layout.

The little Koala Bear came from a pamphlet. I stuck him to hardboard and cut him out .. thought he was cute on the page.. LOL

Close ups of layout:

Watch this space.. there are tons more where this came from.. LOL

Lets Scrap Sketch - 10-12-11

Can you believe that I have finally managed to scrap a sketch again from Let's Scrap. It really feels like forever.

This weeks sketch is another lovely one by Cheri 'o Neil:

I have printed off all my photos from our first trip to Melbourne and have decided to get through scrapping them all. So this sketch worked well for my start.

This is Birrarung Marr park. It is amazing and has the most beautiful views of Melbourne. In th park is a huge 3 legged, multi headed ANGEL work of art. It is created with mosaic. As you can see by the photo in the bottom right, it is huge.. (Neville is under it and doesn't even reach its knees).

Close up's of my layout:

I just realised that I put the wrong date on.. oh dear.. off to go change it..

I created buttons with chipboard and punched holes in them.

Thanks for looking and remember to hop on over to LET'S SCRAP for their weekly challenges. You can win tons of prizes too.

GENERAL UPDATE AND LATEST SCRAPBOOKING NEWS

Well, what a whirlwind September and October it has been. We have been exploring Melbourne flat with our friends and our weekends are generally so full of places to go that we have not missed our containers arrival (well.. not that much.. LOL)

We went to the Tesselar Tulip Festival and got to dance among the Tulips..

Visited the Cuckoo Restaurant (which has the biggest Cuckoo clock in the world aparently) and ate ourselves into oblivion.

While Neville is at work, I get to play with my new made friends and spend time taking the kids out during the day (while it was school holidays).. so nice that the beach is only a 20 min drive from my house..

And finally.. the big day arrived.. Here is my container.. D-Day (5 October 2011), 1 day short of 10 weeks to get my stuff.. I was doing cartwheels when I saw the truck roll down the road...

I must say the Australian efficiency never ceases to amaze me.. they took about 3 hours to offload the entire container and help unpack all the furniture.. amazing.. and only 2 men to do it. First room to get set up.. of course.. my new HOME... my scrap room.. OK it is a mess now and I need to visit IKEA to buy a ton of shelving.. but for now, this is where I will have to get to the grindstone and start working again.. Yipee.. have never been so excited to see my stash before !

I even get time to bake and be "Mrs. Betty Crocker" once in a while.. nothing like freshly baked batch of muffins at 9 in the morning.. LOL.This week I had 2 of my new best friends come and play with me.. they are both beginner scrappers and were very excited to come and scrap. We spent the morning scrapping and having fun.. Check out there awesome creations..

And.. I even got time this week finally to work on the November kit. How cute did this come out? I love it.. Theme for the November kit is " You are out of this world " using new Bo Bunny papers.. Love Bo Bunny ! Remember you can order kits by contacting Nutty M on info@thevillagescrapper.co.za

Anyhow.. off to visit a friend for breakfast (oh what a life..).. LOL.. have a good weekend.
