MY REVAMPED SCRAPBOOKING ROOM / STUDIO

As many of you know, we moved house recently and I have not been able to teach classes as I had the staircase of hell.. I was too afraid someone might fall down them !  So I have finally had a Railing installed and have repainted and revamped my STUDIO!

I am so happy with the end result and wanted to share some pictures with you.

BEFORE:
This is the staircase .. eeek.. No railing, super steep and each step different.. was very scary !
The room left and right.  They built a horrid brown FRAME around the stairs and had a door in.. Yuck..  there was no light at all.. also horrible old tatty Brown blinds !

ROOM AFTER:
We installed a stunning black and metal stair railing and painted everything white.  Added a long mirror to the staircase.  Now everyone can walk without being afraid to fall over !

OFFICE part of studio.. Painted everything pure white, Removed all the horrid blinds and put up some vinyl art.

CLASSROOM part of studio:  We repainted everything white, took off doors off the cupboards to make space for paper racks put up vinyl art (even by light switches), got new tables and pink elements.. Put up rods for Scrapbooking Layouts.  Added birdcages everywhere.

SOME BEFORE / AFTER shots:

Closeups of elements in the room..

Had Vinyl wall art designed for the back wall.
Used Metal Curtain rods to hang off my Scrapbooking Layouts.

Searched high and low and finally found a PINK CUTTLEBUG to match the room.
I got this handmade Teddy from my amazing husband !  Finished off with pink baskets for all my dies and embossing folders.

Wall art in Office.. Just a touch here and there.

View of the window dressings.. Used organza to wrap around the curtain rods and added some pink frames and black birdcages.
 Close up of wall art.

My favorite layout created by Hege Nielsen for me.  Framed and in its place of pride on my IKEA unit.

I found this old Singer machine when we moved into the house.
The domestic worker had it and I convinced her to sell it to me.. LOL.. Love it !!!

View from back of room into studio and stairs going down.
 View of counter

Cut off the cupboard doors and put my two paper racks in there to keep them from the sun.

Added more pink Organza and wall art to the middle window.  The view is so pretty too !

Created big CREATE lettering that I bought and covered them in black / white papers with flowers.
Adhered above my window.
Added Pink Dirt bins.
New tables and repainted the chairs to give the clean look !

Wow, lots of work.. but worth the effort.. I LOVE My new room.
THANK YOU to my hubby for all the hard work !! I love you !

Thanks for looking !  Hope you all come and play with me one day !  I will be teaching classes again from next year.

Hugs, Mich

6-25-14 Lets Scrap Sketch: LIFE - a series of moments

The new sketch is up at Lets Scrap this week.  Another fun double with lots of potential

This originally started out as a pre-bought kit created by Glenda Viljoen.  I changed it a lot to match the sketch and left off a lot of the kit elements.  Love the end result.

My kids discovered Wakaberry and had a ball eating yogurt with all the extras. nothing healthy about that !  LOL

Challenge # 187 @ Lets Scrap : Sweet M

Challenge #187 at Lets Scrap this week is to scrap yourself as a young child.

As we grew up very poor, we didn't have a camera.  These are about the only "decent" photos I could find of myself pre age 16...

Used PEBBLES papers and lots of old stash I had lying around.

Lets Scrap Sketch - 6-18-14 Card

I loved this weeks card sketch at Lets Scrap.

I had tons of left over scraps from a layout, so decided to go all "girly" on this card.  I gave it to a friend for her birthday and she liked it.  I added girly elements and a bit of stenciling.

This weeks sketch can be found here at Lets Scrap:  SKETCH

Here is the card I created.

Remember you have a whole week to play with and can win some fantastic prizes again !

Thanks for looking !

Lets Scrap Sketch: 6-4-14 Messy Fun

This weeks sketch is up at Lets Scrap ... Pop on over and win some great prizes from Pic's and Tales.

The sketch :

I used the Left side of the sketch to create my layout.

I often attend class at a local Supplier that supplies teachers training.  During my classes I have become good friends with Sally.  We are now banned to the "naughty" corner.. LOL.. we sit in class in the corner and giggle and have a ball.. so fun !

This particular class of Liane was a very messy one... we were both covered with Orange stain by the end of it.

My layout using Bo Bunny papers.

Lets Scrap Sketch: 5-28-14

This weeks sketch has been posted at Lets Scrap.
Remember you have a full week to create a layout and post on the site.  You stand to win prizes each week!
Hope to see you play along.

Here is the sketch we had to play with.

My layout.

I used photos for the Scrapbook Convention last year.  I enjoyed the evenings with my friends, we all stayed over at the Hotel in the evenings and had so much fun.

Layout created using Prima Lyric range of papers that I had left over from the Scrapbook Extravaganza last year.

SCRAP AFFAIRS - I'm a Cover Girl

I am so excited.  I am on the Cover of the New Scrap Affairs Magazine.

This layout was created for the SUPREME SCRAP TOURNAMENT I was taking in March.  One of the challenges was to doodle a layout.  I have never struggled so much with a layout and this single took me about 1 week to do !  Normally I do them so fast.
However, the hard work paid off and I made the cover.. Am so excited.  Thanks to Scrap Affairs for the honor !

Close ups of my layout:

Lets Scrap NSD#9 - Booklet Challenge

I just love Booklets and tags and flaps and folds on a layout, and this challenge by Ada was just up my alley !  The deadline is beginning June so come and play along.  Details HERE

I used this sketch for my layout.

I had an old M&M kit that I recreated and done this double page with hidden tags on the left page and on the right page I have added 2 x booklets that open up for more photos.
I really loved this challenge !

Journalling:  Visiting Neville over the December holiday was great. However, he still had to work, so I took the opportunity to drive around East London and show the boys a bit of the town. We found the local Aquarium and actually were surprised by the great display of fish and the cute Seal Show. A great morning out with the boys !

Lets Scrap NSD#8 - Music Inspired Challenge

I am hosting Challenge #8 at Lets Scrap for NSD. You can find it HERE

You have to use a Lets Scrap Sketch and include Lyrics and a Music Title in your layout.  This is open to so many great ideas for a layout.

I used this sketch for mine:

Layout created of my sons friend JD (my other son), who went Hang Gliding with him.  I used the title I BELIEVE I CAN FLY and the lyrics for my journalling.

Hope you can play along !  Challenge end early in June.

Lets Scrap NSD#5 - White Challenge / NSD#7 Marriage themed Challenge

Still busy with my Challenges at Lets Scrap for the NSD month of challenges.

NSD#5 is an ALL WHITE  challenge hosted by Roulien.  WOW.. this one was hard.
However I had fun with it and actually love the end result.

Sketch used: I only used the left side of the sketch.

My Layout:  Created of my nieces wedding. Used white only and embossed all the elements to give them texture.  Then use lots of texture paste on my layout too for shadows.

NSD#7 is a MARRIAGE/WEDDING themed challenge hosted by Hanne.  You have to include a quote on your layout too.

Sketch used: (used the left side of the sketch only)

My Layout:  Again used photos of my niece's wedding.  These were about all the little details that make a wedding special with the quote:  Always create a place where there is a memory.
