8-1-12: NEW DESIGN TEAM LAYOUT

I am so excited to start my third Design Team duties at Let's Scrap this week.  The new DT ladies have been selected and I cannot wait to work with them.  There is so much talent at the Lets Scrap site that I am so glad it wasn't up to me to choose the team.  I am going to miss the previous DT girls too though !  It was awesome to work with you all !

The very first DT sketch for the new Term has been posted:

I had so many photos left over from our visits to East London and came across these that I forgot about.  This was a small little bohemian style backpackers pub in Cinsta, called THE BAREFOOT CAFE... this is in a small town on the coast of East London.  The barman was so friendly and the pub so quaint.  He tried to teach the boys to play didgeridoo on pipes (little did we know we would be in the real land of the didgeridoo shortly after that..LOL).

I used Scrap Collections INDIGO range of papers for my layout.

I had too many photos so created booklets to insert more on the page.

7-25-12: AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT

This weeks Lets Scrap sketch is a great one.  I am in love with Chevron's at the moment. They are such a fun, inexpensive funky addition to any layout:

This week I have created a layout using photos taken when we went to the semi finals of Australia has Talent.   It was raining and we had to wait in queue for about 4 hours before we got in.  Luckily we were 2nd from the front and got in first.   LOL.  It was still heaps of fun though.

I actually created this layout at a Crop day about 4 weeks ago and won a prize for it.  Yay me !  I cut the title and date on my cuttlebug.  The flower is also a Tim Holtz Tattered Angels flower.  Love those !

CHEVRON TUTORIAL:

  • I find it easier to use a thin strip of scrap paper to stick my Chevrons to, before I stick them onto the layout.  about 3 cm in height and however long I need it.
  • Cut as many strips as you require measuring 3cm x 8cm wide
  • I used a mix of papers on this layout, but you can use one or only two.

Line them up at 90 degrees with each other and cut through the middle (throw away small triangles) and alternate with next piece and cut through as per example above.
Ink each piece and adhere to your strip.

ALL IN ONE CHEVRON TUTORIAL:

  • Cut your paper to 8cm x 4cm (you can make it as long as you like and adjust the height as well)
  • Measure 2cm along the length and then 2cm and 6cm horizontally on one side and 4cm on the other side
  • Cut your 3 lines stopping at your horizontal line
  • Fold back your first piece of paper to line up with your horizontal line
  • Fold back the second flap so that this too lines up with the horizontal line
  • Continue folding all the way along the top of the Chevron
  • Now start along the bottom edge and do the same
  • This is the finished BACK of your chevron
  • Turn it over to see the front, neat and perfectly formed Chevron.  Ink it and using a sewing machine or hand stitch all the way along the middle.

BELIEVE Layout Share

This is not my normal style at all.. but the end result is very pretty.. Photos taken 2 years ago Christmas with Neville's family when we had Xmas Eve dinner at our house.  Was a fun event.  I still have tons of photos to scrap for this event.  Needed a flap or booklet or something..

Layout created from a kit by Juliette Corbellari.

ONCE UPON A DREAM Layout Share

This is my gorgeous niece Angelica.. I don't often get to scrap in pink, so when I get photos of her to scrap, I get super excited.

These photos were taken at her Princess Birthday party about 2 years ago.. when I got this kit from Juliette Corbellari, I just had to use my nieces' photos. I also used  a Lets Scrap sketch for photo placement as the photos weren't working.

I had to ink, gllitter and glaze a lot of elements.. was a fun layout. The booklet on the right opens up so I managed to get a lot of photos onto the page.

These are closeups of elements used and the booklet open.  I still need to journal and add my date.
