BIG REVEAL - SA CONVENTION PAGES

Hi there,

OK, the Cape Town stretch of the SA Convention is over, now I can reveal the layouts that we done during the Convention. As mentioned, it was another stunning event. The teachers were so awesome and the pages just as great.

The only class I did not attend was the one by Debbie Schuh from October Afternoon. (I had to leave early for my sons birthday).. However I did get the kit.. and as I do not do mini books, I used the latest challenge from Sketchesforyou (http://sketchesforyou.ning.com/forum/topics/special-guest-cherie-from) and created this layout using the sketch by Cherie.

It was very similar to the layout created by Tracie Hudson, so I also incorporated the ROLLING technique we learned ...

Here is Cherie's sketch:

Using the October Afternoon pack of papers.. they are such bright fun colors:

Close Up views of the layout:

TRACIE HUDSON's layout was just the coolest.. we got to ROLL a LOT of paper.. LOL.. the paper range is SASSAFRAS and was full of little monsters. Too cute ! My eldest son is my little monster.. these photos just fitted perfectly !

Left and right sides of layout (closer views):

(we were supposed to do french knots, but I cheated and used black brads..)
This rolling technique is really a nice way to use up all those 100's of scraps you have lying around...

My favorite class of the Convention.. Madame {C} , aka Candice Greenway, created this cute layout: I had to adjust mine slightly as my photo was too full of faces and would have been covered by the banner. Papers by Diecuts with a View.
I used photos of our recent SURVIVOR weekend.. you don't get sweeter memories than those...
Here are Close ups of left and right sides of layout. Loved this cute banner... always wanted to do a layout with a full banner..

Close up views of some of the details of the layouts:

Jeri Tanner from BO BUNNY presented this class. Was using the Peacock range of papers. Very pretty.. all that green and purple.
We created a "wheel" that you turn to view more photos. Another technique that I have wanted to do for a while. Actually got to do a few new things this round. Was a worthwhile Convention.

Close ups of the finer details... Loved to learn how to make such cute butterflies out of flower petals.. easy and so pretty:

Jodi Sandford from FANCY PANTS presented this layout. Very pretty and grundgy with a lot of spritzing as well. Created cute pleated flowers on this layout.

Close ups of details. (I just wish we could find half this paper here !)

Another one of my all time favorite layouts is this one by PRIMA presented by Nic Howard. We used TONS of flowers on this page... so gorgeous. This is my best friend and her daughter.. how perfect are these photos with this layout?

You just have to love Prima..aren't these flowers too beautiful !

Phew, well that is it.. hope you enjoyed the Peek... Remember to book early for next year too.. it was really worth every cent!
Have a good week !

You are growing up so fast, you are becoming a BLUR

Completed another challenge for SCRAP U:

YOU ARE GROWING UP SO FAST, YOU ARE BECOMING A BLUR...

I just loved this photo and when I found this quote, I knew it was perfect !

Our challenge was to follow a Choreographer (I.e. Scraplift a layout we liked from the Scrap U gallery).

I created this layout based on Cathy Sanders "Pre School Assignment #1"...(I just had to flip her layout as my photo was portrait and not landscape). Loved her layout and this worked so well.

We received extra points for "MOVEMENT" on the layout... My "movement" on this layout is created by the "blur" effect of the photo...

I stamped the title using 2 different colors of paint mixed randomly and then brush stroked the same color all over the page. I then went over the title with a finepoint marker to show the outline of the word BLUR. I used my DYMO machine with leftover pattern paper and sanded it over lightly to get the words to show through.

Earned points for Cathy and some extra ones for me too on this assignment. Tags were part of the pack of papers we received. All part of Kaisers new Secret Bird Society collection. (http://www.kaisercraft.net/products/collections/secret-bird-society.html)

Created my flower by pleating a scrap of left over pattern paper. I decided to only use half a flower seeing as it is a boy page after all.. LOL

I used my CHARITY scrap kit left overs for this layout, and they worked so well. The colors were perfect for my photo and there was enough paper left to create this layout with ease. I am not normally a paint girl, but I think it worked rather well here.

On the right side of the layout, I wet the edge and rolled it to create a frayed edge.
Loved the Making Memories brads that they gave us in the kit, so made use of those on my layout.

Thanks for looking and h
ave a good week !

2010 SA SCRAPBOOK CONVENTION FEEDBACK

Good Morning !

Well, what a weekend we had... 5 of us friend all donned our Aprons and arrived bright and early at Emperors Palace on Saturday morning to attend the:

The SCRAPBOOKING DIVA'S (Nutty M, Clauds, Sweet M, Megaree and Tertia)

We had the most amazing teachers again this year:

(Candice Greenway, Jeri Tanner (Bo Bunny), Jodi Sanford (Fancy Pants), Debby Schuh (October Afternoon), Tracie Hudson (Sassafras) and Nic Howard (Prima):

Jodi Sanford presented the most gorgeous layout called "OUR STORY"

As the Cape Town girls haven't done the expo yet, I am just posting "sneak peeks". Will post full photos later.

One of my favorite classes with with Traci Hudson. She is an amazing teacher and the technique was so fun: Layout was called "THIS IS HOW WE ROLL".. so fun and cute

And of course.. who doesn't love PRIMA ? Nic shared her techniques with Flowers, rolling, distressing.. how cool !! Loved this layout:

And of course our highlight of the weekend was Madame {C}, otherwise known as Candice Greenway.. imported directly from Cape Town.. LOL

In true style, Candice had LOTS of cupcake, eye candy (woo hoo) and cupcake recipe books for everyone to win. This is my cupcake I won .. .how cute is this !

In true Madame {C} style, her class was awesome. We were taught techniques, design fundamentals and even a crash course on photo editing. No one ever expects to finish a Candice layout, so hence there is no photo... LOL...

Check out her cute table she had layed out... {Check out PARIS the DUMMY !} ... Love it !!

Another lovely layout was with Jeri Tanner of BO BUNNY. What a fun, amazing, lovely lady ! She had us singing and playing all morning ! Really a fun start to our weekend ! Thanks Jeri !

Her layout was just as fun and lovely as she was...

This year, the CONVENTION decided to host a

in aid of:

On Saturday night, all the ladies bought kits and had to complete a single layout in 2 hours. We were only allowed to use the items in the kit and our tools.

About 250+ ladies attende the challenge and the layouts were FABULOUS.. amazing what girls can do in such a short space of time... seriously impressive.

Out of all these entries, they had 2 winners and 5 honorable mentions.
I was fortunate enough to have my layout receive an "HONORABLE MENTION".. I was so excited to be chosen out of so many wonderful layouts.. a real honor..

Ashley Hayden (of SURVIVOR fame) was present to hand out prizes.. unfortunatley us Honorable mentions didn't win anything, but at least we got the recognition.

The two winners of the Challenge were Tracy Schimper and another lady (sorry didn't get her name).. but here is her winning layout.... She really deserved to win ... I just loved how she got all this done is only 2 hours ! Amazing:

All in all, the CONVENTION was another wonderful, successful one and I really want to thank Glenda, the teachers and all the helpers for another AMAZING event !

Now to start saving for Tim Holtz in April....

Have a good week.
