CHARITY DAY A BLAST

Hi there,

Morning! What a lovely weekend… wow, the sun was shining.. lovely sunny WINTERS day??? Yeah... Go figure ! LOL.. at least all our International visitors are getting a taste of SUNNY South Africa. Have you seen all the flags flying for the FIFA 2010 WORLD CUP..? Only 4 days to go to Kick off.. the country is going mad !

Wow.. it is getting hectic.. everywhere you look there are flags … really a lovely site to behold. Wonderful how sport unites a nation. I don't even support soccer and even I am feeling very patriotic ! Check me in my YELLOW and GREEN.... !
The streets are lined with South African flags and international flags as far as you can see...

Good luck to BAFANA BAFANA on Friday ! May the Vuvuzela prove stronger than the Mexican Wave.. LOL!

ESPN have a series of adverts doing the rounds.. I am so in love with South Africa's one.. how cute is this ! LOL:

This just sums up our South Africa SPIRIT in a nutshell ! Well done ESPN !

This weekend we hosted our 1st TSHOLOFELO BABY SANCTUARY CHARITY SCRAP morning.
It was a great success and we had over 38 ladies arrive early at the Wilro Park Baptist Church to scrap for the morning. Lots of prizes were won and over R4000 was raised for this worthy charity during the morning.

Thank you again to all the ladies for your generous Raffle ticket sales.. and congratulations to the winner of our raffle and the cute little ZAZ diecutting machine and double kit from Clive Frost. {The Village Scrapper} set up her online-shop with all the LATEST Kaiser, Bo Bunny and other paper ranges and stock that has just arrived in the country. The ladies shopped up a storm and a percentage of the proceeds of the morning’s sales went to the Charity as well. Check out her online website to see this amazing new range of stock. It is the first time this paper is in the county!).

Layout completed for the morning was OWL always love you. This layout is now available in Kit format @ THE VILLAGE SCRAPPER online shop:

JUNE SPECIAL @ THE VILLAGE SCRAPPER

FULL STEAM AHEAD

June is here..

can you believe it? If it wasn't for the FREEZING cold, I wouldn't have !

Half way through the year, a few days away from the Soccer World Cup, the year sure seems to be flying by! It is amazing how patriotic everyone gets through sport. I am not a soccer fan at all, but even I have a flag flying from my car (well had.. my son left the window open and it flew away... LOL).

I’m sure that by now you car is all decorated and “pimped” out and you all have your very own Soccer Shirts… see the new class this month to celebrate your Soccer photos. Layout inspired by a Rose Krugess layout.

{FULL STEAM AHEAD}

Yesterday we were took part in the FRIENDS OF THE RAIL PHOTO GALA morning. (see: http://www.friendsoftherail.co.za/) We got up at 04h00 in the freezing darkness to leave home bright and early to be at Capital Park Train Station in Pretoria at 06h00.

We were about 200 avid {insane} photographers and train lovers… all gathered to take photos of the old steam trains doing their thing. Was quiet something ! Tripods, lenses and flashes abounded.. was like being at a disco ! Even the barrage of steam from the train didn't deter this bunch .. I did manage to get a few nice photos out of my 380 odd photos taken for the morning.. LOL. Bound to get something nice out of that hey?

Seeing as I have NO idea when I will ever get time to scrap these photos, quickly did 2 digital layouts so that at least I have done something with them so long.. Now I don't have to feel quiet so guilty.. LOL.

{JUNE CLASSES}

New Classes this month are:

CHERISHED {FAMILY} MOMENTS: Can be used for ANY themed layout, travel, holiday, fun, etc… Not title specific. Using an A5 photo and lots of jumbos, create a layout with a flap and booklet to contain lots of photos.

CHARITY SCRAP A FEW DAYS AWAY

Hi there,

Hope you all had a nice relaxing weekend! My weekend was hectic. My son was on KTV on Saturday morning and we had to be at the MNET studios at 7 in the morning.. yawn !!! Too early for me ! LOL. They had lots of fun and won soccer balls and other small prizes for taking part in challenges, games, etc. Nice morning out for the kids. Nice that KTV do that for the kids !
Hubby was home from East London as well, so that was nice to spend time with the family. Due to spending so little time with my family, I have made the decision to no longer teach classes at SCRAPNIFICENT. I will only be teaching from my studio (Homespun Scrapbooking, 7 Kameelperd Ave, Krugersdorp) and from SCRAPBOOK 'n THINGS (Florida - Lara). So please remember to book early to get into the classes, as they do fill up quickly.

One of my favorite quotes is: “Always carry a camera as life happens all around you”.. this is so true.
Driving home yesterday I came across this site in our local park. How awesome. The “inventor” was quiet happy for me to take some photos of his “Nissan Mandela”.. amazing how creative some people are.

SCRAP SHEETS DESIGN TEAM

Wow, I am very excited, I have been asked to join the Scrap Sheets design team.

Received my first pack last week using the awesome new CAT cutouts and Scrap sheets papers:
Thanks to Claudia for these stunning photos of her babies !

I also received the latest Pack of NETBALL cutouts to use and used these awesome blue papers from Scrapsheets ... they worked very well with these photos of Deandre !

Both these layouts will be kitted end of May for purchase. If you would like to purchase, please let me know on 082 874 1806 or sa_homespun@mweb.co.za and I will send you more details.

Scrap Sheets papers are so easy and fun to work with. They have at least 3 to each range so that the colors all blend and work well together.

Along with their Chipboard themes they also have LETTERS and SWIRLS, etc to go with all the layouts.. Love using this range !
Thanks again to Lorna and Debbie for adding me to your team !

WHAT A FUN WEEKEND

Wow, what fun we had at our 101 Scrapbook Beginners Retreat otherside of Pietersburg !

10 girls... all eager to learn how to scrap.. they came packed and ready. We left bright and early on Friday morning and scrapped from early morning hours till late in the evening from Friday to Sunday !

There was still time however for some fun by the bonfire, to go on game drives (even at 11 at night) and to drink shooters for breakfast !

A few injuries were found along the way, but what better way to love your craft than to add a bit of yourself to it.. LOL!

We done a Beginners Mini album and done 2 double layouts on the Saturday. All the girls almost finished and I was very proud of them ! well done ladies.

BUSY WEEKEND

Hi there,

You will all be so proud of me.. my son is 12 and I finally scrapped his birth photos ! Whoo hoo… better late than never hey … LOL… And I even done pages of journaling for this layout. I found this stunning range of Jenni Bowlin papers (her papers and accessories are just too gorgeous.. check it out here:
http://www.jbsmercantile.com/ . She is a breath of fresh air and her products are new, fun and so fun to work with… (check her blog - http://jennibowlin.blogspot.com/)

Also managed to finally scrap my sons birthday party last year (this is only 10 months late.. LOL..). He is a skateboarding freak and it is very hard to scrap photos like that… he loved the page though, so I suppose I didn’t do too bad with it.

Another layout I completed was a kit designed by Lara Hanna.. finally got around to finishing it.. love how it came out.. Used a stunning zigzag stitch stamp to do the "fake stitching" around the papers.

WIN ON MY BLOG:
Leave some love on my blog.... From all comments received I will send one lucky winner a free set of class notes for a class of their choice !

SNEAK PEEKS:
Here is a sneak peek of the “Any {egg}scuse for Chocolate” layout that I created.. I managed to create this layout using about 10 sheets of scrap pattern paper that I had lying around.

There is another cool layout too “Adrenaline Junkies” which I finished. This will be taught next month. Has a huge open circle for an A4 photo and lots of jumbos to go on top and under a flap. Suitable for any layout.

Mission:
We are a Place of Safety for abandoned, orphaned and neglected babies and children in the Roodepoort area. Our mission is to provide a loving, family environment and provide the best standard of care available to all of the children God blesses us with. The babies placed with us remain until they are able to be adopted, returned to their families or placed with long-term foster families.
Our ultimate goal is to find loving, God-fearing homes for these children. We are hoping to do this largely by word of mouth among friends and by making ourselves known in churches and societies in our area. Children who are not adopted will be brought up with us in the best simulation of a “normal” Christian home that we are able to provide.
We believe we have been called by God to demonstrate his practical love in this way and at this time in South Africa.
For more information or to make a donation please visit:
